Animals across Ireland are looking to us to heal their hurt

More pets are becoming victims of cruelty and the cost-of-living crisis. As incomes dwindle, so does their care. Sadly, many are being cast aside and forgotten; left without food or water… or any shred of compassion.

Mom and daughter, Sophie and Anna, are two such pets. Responding to a call, ISPCA Animal Welfare Inspector Alice, found them living in filthy conditions. Food bowls lay empty and there was no drinking water. Both were so thin their bones were clearly visible. Alice didn’t hesitate to seize them, most likely saving their lives. Anna was so thirsty she drank water without stopping for two whole minutes. She also had gum disease and a parasite infection which must have been very painful.

For three months the dogs received the food, nutrition and love they’d been deprived of. Both also received the practical things a pet needs before going to a loving new home, including vaccinations, micro-chipping, and neutering. A wonderful animal lover took both dogs home, keeping mum and daughter together.

Anna and Sophie are unrecognisable from the frightened dogs rescued that day. Aided by photographic and written evidence provided by the ISPCA, the previous owner was brought to court and received a large fine. He will face prison if he commits another animal welfare offence. This justice, and all the rescues, treatments, loving care, and rehoming; are made possible because of compassionate and kind ISPCA supporters. If you are able to help heal the hurt, please make a kind donation here.
