5 Reasons Why Our Pets Always Make Us Happy

This #BlueMonday, we've rounded up a few reasons why our pets always make us happy

Any pet owner will understand the happiness their pet brings them; after all, it’s one of the main reasons for having a pet. Whether it’s chasing leaves in the garden, hiding in boxes or slumbering in strange places; they always bring a smile to our faces. This #BlueMonday, we’ve rounded up a few reasons why our pets always make us happy:

1. REDUCES STRESS LEVELS

Petting a dog or cat can actually help lower your blood pressure, and playing with them releases feel-good chemicals in your brain such as dopamine and oxytocin, which are known to trigger pleasure and happiness.

2. THEY KEEP YOU ACTIVE

Playing in the garden or throwing a ball around in the park is enough to help reach your daily exercise goals while keeping your dog happy and healthy too. And yes, running after your cat does count as cardio!

3. THEY’RE ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU

Research shows that 80% of pet owners say their pet makes them feel less lonely. Pets are always there to welcome you home. Your pet will stick by you through thick and thin, no questions asked.

4. THEY CAN HELP YOU MAKE FRIENDS

69% of dog owners have more social interactions than those who don’t. Having a dog not only gets you out of the house, but your furry friend can make it easier to start up a conversation and make new friends.

5. ADD STRUCTURE AND ROUTINE TO YOUR DAY

Many pets require a regular feeding and exercise schedule. Having a consistent routine keeps us balanced and calm. Pets remind us to get out of bed to feed, exercise, and care for them.
