Jess' Journey: From Neglect to Love

Rescued from neglect, Jess now thrives in a loving home with a bright future ahead.

Rescued from neglect, Jess now thrives in a loving home with a bright future ahead.

Just a few short weeks after being rescued by an ISPCA Inspector, life for Jess is far removed from her former existence.

From being severely underweight and chained to a rotten wooden box that offered no protection from the elements, she is now living her best life with new owner Susan, a pair of canine companions to help her along her way, and some cats which Jess loves too.

When Susan laid eyes on Jess for the first time the die was cast, she had to offer her a home. Since then, Jess’ transformation has been nothing short of remarkable. She is now an indoor dog with lots of walks and doggy treats.

While Jess’ dark days are behind her, shadows of the past still remain. She suffered a spinal injury at some point for which she is now attending weekly acupuncture sessions, and she is showing signs of improvement.

Jess also has a quirk in that she will fight sleep trying to say upright and will not lie down until she falls over. It is believed that it is the result of spending so long without having anywhere dry and comfortable to lie. Susan says that this can be heart-breaking to watch but she is confident this behaviour will stop in time.

If you can offer a rescue dog like Jess a home, please visit our website rehoming section here www.ispca.ie/adoptions/ to see the many animals in our care patiently waiting for their chance of a happy new home. If you are not in a position to adopt a pet, if you can please donate today to support our life-saving work.  Thank you.
