ISPCA Launches Nationwide Flea & Worm Awareness Campaign

Chanelle Pharma Partnership to Support Animal Welfare with Generous Donation

The ISPCA is proud to announce its first-ever Flea & Worm Awareness Campaign, running throughout the entire month of April 2025.

This initiative, in partnership with Chanelle Pharma, aims to highlight the importance of regular flea and worm treatments for pets while directly supporting the ISPCA’s vital rescue and rehoming efforts.

Pet owners often underestimate the serious health risks posed by fleas and worms. Left untreated, these parasites can cause significant discomfort, illness, and even life-threatening conditions for dogs and cats. Regular treatment is essential to ensure pets stay healthy and happy and the ISPCA encourages all pet owners to speak to your vet for expert advice. Through this campaign, the ISPCA seeks to educate pet owners on best practices for parasite prevention and encourage responsible pet care.

Chanelle Pharma kindly donated three months of flea and worm treatment for all cats and dogs in care across all ISPCA shelters. The results have given the charity full confidence in endorsing these products as safe and effective solutions for parasite control.

ISPCA Chairperson and Vet, Pete Wedderburn said: “Parasite control is important for all pets. A risk-benefit analysis is essential to ensure the best product is used for each individual pet, and ideally, a conversation with your own vet is the best way to ensure the safest approach. I am very grateful to Chanelle for supporting pets under ISPCA care with their range of wormers and flea control”.

Denise McCausland, ISPCA Head of Animal Welfare said: “We are thrilled to work with Chanelle Pharma on a Flea & Worm Awareness Campaign throughout the month of April. Preventative healthcare is crucial for our pets, and this initiative not only educates pet owners on the importance of parasite control but also provides much-needed funding to support our work in protecting vulnerable animals. Many of the rescued animals brought into our Centre’s are suffering from parasite infestation, leading to malnutrition, mange, anaemia, and often severe gastrointestinal issues. Flea bites will cause your pet to itch a lot causing skin irritation. Dogs and cats can get ear mites, that live in your pet’s ears causing itching and infection.  All these conditions are totally preventable with correct parasite treatment, so speak to your vet today to do what’s right for your pet(s)”.

As part of this campaign, an in-store promotion will be running across all major pet stores Nationwide.  In April for every pack of FleawayPlus and Wormaway purchased, Chanelle Pharma will generously donate 50c to the ISPCA, helping to support the rescue, rehabilitation, and the responsible rehoming of thousands of animals in need.

The ISPCA has so many adorable animals patiently waiting for their chance of a happy new home.  All animals adopted from the ISPCA will be treated for internal and external parasites, neutered/spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.
