Happy #WorldWildlifeDay from the ISPCA.

Today, on 3rd March we celebrate all the incredible wild animal species we have helped along their way to recovery

Today, on 3rd March we celebrate all the incredible wild animal species we have helped along their way to recovery, and it’s the perfect day to highlight the importance of wildlife, and how much they contribute to the planet.

The ISPCA plays an important role in helping sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife, by providing urgent veterinary care, and often working alongside other organisations, such as Kildare Wildlife Rescue and Wildlife Rescue Cork.  Following rehabilitation and time to recuperate, we re-release them close to their place of rescue, so they can return to their natural habitat, where they belong in the wild.

Staff at the ISPCA’s National Animal Centre recently assisted in the rehab of a Buzzard that needed a couple of days rest.  He was stunned with no injuries and was later re-released, close to where he was found. A wood pigeon was rescued in Portlaoise when discovered falling over in a yard, unable to fly with suspected broken tail feathers. In Tipperary, a juvenile grey Heron was discovered in middle of country road, very weak and lethargic. A hedgehog was rescued in Cork where he was being attacked by a dog. Following a veterinary examination, and time to recuperate, the hedgehog was re-released close to the location of his rescue.
