Maverick was rescued from an empty property along with two terrier dogs after a member of the public called the ISPCA’s National Animal Cruelty Helpline. They were locked in a filthy outhouse where they were being left alone for extended periods of time. All three dogs had heavily matted coats and their nails were overgrown.
The vet confirmed that they were all severely emaciated. Maverick’s coat had to be shaved off completely as it was impossible to groom him. At first he was extremely nervous around people and fearful when being walked or exercised. Today he is a happy, confident, healthy dog who is absolutely in love with his forever family.
Maverick is our December feature in our 2023 Happy Tails calendar! For 12 more Happy Tails, why not purchase our ISPCA 2024 Happy Tails calendar here.
