From Torment to Tail Wags: Jess’s Journey to Her Forever Home

Today's Happy Tail is from Allison who adopted Jess the Newfoundland

Today's Happy Tail brought a tear to us all. The Tail is from Allison who adopted Jess the Newfoundland.

Here is how Jess is getting on at her Forever Home:

The thought of taking on such a large breed coming from a horrendous life was slightly nerve racking and I wondered how it would work with my 3 legged rescue cat Willow. I needn’t have worried. The moment I met Jess, I fell in love instantly and my heart went out to her seeing the condition she was in.

With all of her tormenting, painful previous life, I was still met with a wagging tail and the offer of a very large paw.

Her eyes seemed sad and lost but they showed love and hope too. It’s been a long journey to build her condition and weight up and gain her trust but I can honestly say now that she has blended in fantastically.

Jess came to me during an illness I had and I had time to put work into both her recovery and mine. She is so loving and happy now and adores my cat.

Willow loves her too and gets face licks every night. She winds herself around Jess and gives her head bumps every morning.

Jess and I go for walks every day and she’s brilliant on the lead and loves it. I’m greeted every morning with a wagging tail and the paw as if to say thank you for changing my life. She was very nervous about everything around her in the beginning but time and patience brought her happy side out.

She is a gentle giant and is a perfect addition to our lives. She loves being brushed and having baths and was easily house trained. I get stopped every time we go for walks to say hello and kids love her. She is so patient with others and hasn’t a bad bone in her body despite the torturous conditions she came from and she amazes me every day.

We have a mutual love and understanding of each other and I couldn’t be without her. Thanks to the ISPCA and the incredible work they do, Jess has now arrived in her well deserved happy place.”

We would like to give a huge thank you to Allison for giving us this lovely update on how Jess is getting on!
