From Timid to Treasured: Max’s Journey Home

This week's Happy Tail is from Liz who adopted Max the Beagle.

This week's Happy Tail is from Liz who adopted Max the Beagle.

Here is how Max is getting on at his Forever Home:

“In February, we lost our beautiful golden Labrador, Marley. He had been a rescue, full of love and gentleness, and the house felt so empty without him. Nala, our five-year-old German Shepherd, was especially heartbroken and seemed so lost without her companion.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Beagles, so I reached out to the ISPCA to let them know I’d be interested if one ever needed a home. I thought I might be waiting a long time, but within a week they called to say there was a Beagle cross looking for a family.

As soon as I heard about the tough start he’d had, I knew I couldn’t say no. That’s how Max came into our lives. From the moment I met him, I was in love. We introduced him to Nala, and they got along famously, which made the decision even easier.

Those first few weeks with Max were challenging. He was so timid, afraid of everything and everyone. He wasn’t house-trained, and he cried through the nights. But I knew that with patience and love, he would learn to trust us. And he did! Little by little, he came out of his shell. Now he’s full of energy, wonderfully cheeky, and such great fun. He’s learned how to accept affection, and wherever I go, he’s never far behind. When I went away for a few days recently, he stuck to me like glue when I came back, as if to make sure I wouldn’t disappear again.

Max still has his fears, he’s wary of strangers and terrified of the wind, and he has his little quirks too. But his big personality and sweet nature make up for everything. He adores Nala, loves the whole family, and has truly become one of us.

He has brought so much joy into our lives, and I can’t imagine our home without him now. Max is family, and we wouldn’t part with him for the world ❤️ “

We would like to give a huge thank you to Liz, for giving us this wonderful update on how Max is getting on! 💙
