Beat the Blues this Blue Monday with a Furry Friend!

Blue Monday? Not for your pet—they’re here to love you unconditionally and brighten your mood!

Today might be called the "most depressing day of the year," but your pet doesn’t believe in Blue Monday—they’re just here to love you unconditionally.

Did you know pets do more than bring smiles? They can actually brighten your mood and boost your mental health! Here’s how:

01. Unconditional love: Pets are always happy to see you, no matter how tough your day is. Their wagging tails and happy purrs are enough to warm any heart. Research shows that 80% of pet owners say their pet makes them feel less lonely. Pets are always there to welcome you home. Your pet will stick by you through thick and thin, no questions asked.

02. Reduces stress levels: Petting a dog or cat can actually help lower your blood pressure, and playing with them releases feel-good chemicals in your brain such as dopamine and oxytocin, which are known to trigger pleasure and happiness. This can help to reduce anxiety and stress levels.

03. They keep you active: Playing in the garden or throwing a ball around in the park is enough to help reach your daily exercise goals, while keeping your dog happy and healthy too. And yes, running after your cat does count as cardio! This can boost your physical health and increase those endorphins!

04. Help you make friends: 69% of dog owners have more social interactions than those who don’t. Having a dog not only gets you out of the house, but your furry friend can make it easier to start up a conversation and make new friends. Pets are also great listeners, offering companionship when you need it most.

05. Add structure and routine to your day: Many pets, require a regular feeding and exercise schedule. Having a consistent routine keeps us balanced, calm and gives a sense of fulfillment. Pets remind us to to get out of bed to feed, exercise, and care for them, whether it’s morning walks or dinnertime snuggles.
