About Lucia

Meet Lucia. Lucia (Lucy) came into our care as a TNR (trap neuter return). These cats are usually released after they have been neutered but the vet advised that Lucia had the worst case of lice she had ever seen and would really need a follow up treatment in a few weeks. The lady that was feeding Lucia thought her tail had been burned but it turned out to be damage from lice. The vet said she had had a very tough start, she was very thin and her left eye is badly scarred from a previous infection. So Lucy came into our care. She was terrified for the first few months, we thought a few times we would have to release her but her foster had faith and she was right! Lucy is now a pure dote! Still a little shy and still tiny but she is now a chubber with a thick, glossy coat. She loves rubs and to give head bumps. She even started purring when she’s held. Both these pictures were taken from her foster’s work desk. This pose means ‘please reach into the drawer and give me some dreamies’.. She loves food and treats are the way to this girl’s heart. Lucy is used to dogs and other cats. She would like a home where she will get time to acclimatise and test out your treat portions, if you get it right she will love you forever 😺
Lucy is about 1 years old. She is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and treated for parasites.

Lucia is currently in the care of Laois SPCA

The Process

The adoption process at the ISPCA is designed to ensure the best possible match between animals and their prospective adopters.

Step One
Contact us

Contact the member society or animal centre and arrange to visit them. To save time you can complete an application form online, directly from the animal page.

Step Two
Get all the info

The member society or animal centre will give you information on adopting an animal, including the cost, and can help you fill out the right forms.

Step Three
Meet him/her

Following an assessment to match you with the right pet, you can meet the animals and reserve the animal you like.

Step Four
Show us around

A home visit will then be carried out to check your home is suitable for the pet you have chosen.

Step Five
Welcome your new best friend

When all the paperwork and checks are complete – you can take your new pet home! A follow up visit is usually carried out to make sure you and your new pet are happy!
