There are some dogs who just break your heart in the gentlest way. Bandit is one of them. This beautiful young lurcher has spent his short life not knowing what it means to feel safe, to be part of a family, or to simply walk through the world without fear. Kennel life is overwhelming for him, too loud, too fast, too much. But now, thanks to being in a foster home, Bandit is starting to discover the the joy of soft words and the magic of a treat pouch and is in a short time, already beginning to give kisses.
He’s still early in his journey, and make no mistake, Bandit is a project dog. He was severely under-socialised and the world still feels like a big, confusing place for him. His biggest hurdle right now is lead walking: it’s strange, it’s scary, and it’s not yet something he understands. But what he does understand is comfort, kindness, and trust and with the right person, we know he’ll learn the rest in time.
Bandit is already mastering sleeping through the night in his crate, which he loves the gentle comfort of. He’s a big fan of food and makes best friends with every dog he meets. Another dog in the home to help him continue his learning would be ideal for showing him the world is much less scary that he has been led to believe. He is becoming more affectionate and trusting of his fosterers every day. Bandit needs a secure garden to start practicing freedom safely, and a calm, patient home that will let him move at his own pace. He’s not ready for busy parks or bustling streets quite yet, but with a kind, understanding family, Bandit will blossom in his own quiet, beautiful way.
If you’ve ever wanted to help build a dog’s future from the ground up, to be the safe place they’ve never had, Bandit is waiting for you. He may not be the easiest dog you’ll ever meet, but he just might be the most rewarding.
